The spring pressure gauge is a widely used pressure-measuring instrument in industrial production. Its core structure consists of an elastic sensing element (spring tube), a transmission mechanism, an indicating device, and a housing. Among these components, the spring tube—a critical part—typically made from elastic materials such as copper alloys or stainless steel, is shaped into either a curved C-form or a spiral form. One end features a fixed joint connected to the medium being measured, while the other end remains a sealed, free end.
When the medium under test enters the interior of the spring tube, the internal pressure causes the spring tube to undergo elastic deformation, resulting in an outward expansion or contraction displacement at the free end. This displacement is transmitted via a rod to the gear transmission mechanism, where it is amplified and subsequently used to drive the pointer to rotate on the dial, thereby providing a direct and intuitive display of the measured pressure value. The precision of the transmission mechanism directly affects the accuracy of the measurement; typically composed of components such as sector gears and center gears, it can magnify even tiny displacements by tens to hundreds of times.
Spring pressure gauges offer advantages such as simple structure, low cost, and a wide measurement range—from vacuum up to tens of megapascals—and are well-suited for measuring various media, including gases and liquids. Depending on the characteristics of the medium being measured, spring tubes made from different materials can be selected; for instance, stainless steel is ideal for measuring corrosive media, while copper alloys are suitable for general-purpose applications.
When using, be sure to calibrate regularly to ensure accuracy, and avoid exposure to severe vibrations or operation beyond the specified measurement range. The display is clear and straightforward, with pressure units (such as MPa, kPa, kgf/cm², etc.) and range markings clearly indicated on the dial. Some models also come equipped with a zero-point adjustment feature, making it easy to recalibrate in case of zero-point drift.
Spring pressure gauges offer stable performance and convenient operation, playing a vital role in fields such as chemical engineering, petroleum, power generation, and machinery. They are essential instruments for monitoring pressure parameters and ensuring the safe operation of equipment throughout the production process.
